Originally built in the 17th century, The House combines old world elegance with modern day luxury. Sensitively restored, the individually styled bedrooms and elegant reception rooms create a cosy welcome. Set in a walled garden in the Eden Valley village of Temple Sowerby, The House offers an opportunity to relax and indulge.
There’s a choice of bedrooms, each with its own appeal and character, from beamed rooms to high Georgian ceilings. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, complimentary tea & coffee making facilities and The White House toiletries, with the superior rooms featuring either massage baths or hydro therapy showers.
Dine in our award winning restaurant, featuring a blend of contemporary British style food sourced locally. Overlooking the walled garden and pond, it’s the perfect setting for an intimate dinner, celebratory event or starting the day with one of our freshly cooked breakfasts. Private parties can be catered for in our Eden Room which holds up to 12 and larger parties in our Garden Room. Work with our event co-ordinator and Jack Bradley, our head chef to design a personalised menu and programme for your event.
The River Eden, from which the valley takes its name, meanders northwards through sublime rural landscapes. The village of Temple Sowerby is situated between the market towns of Penrith and Appleby in Westmorland with the mighty Cross Fell Mountain as a spectacular backdrop.
Whatever the occasion, come and visit us, dine in our restaurant, bathe in our luxurious bathrooms, enjoy a nightcap in our snug bar and sleep in the softest of beds.
